Fun Day at the Beach

This week I made a day at the beach for kickstart of summer learning journey. We created a comic srtip using a template with a partner. First of all we planned on what our story would be about and plan when each part is going to happen. The main part of the story is our ending, our ending is about the volleyball hitting the sand castle, and they help make another sand castle but even bigger.

I found this activity very cool because I was able to be creative about what was going to happen in the story.

Diwali Celebration

LI: To use your smart searching skills to find out what Diwali is and how people celebrate around the world.

Our challenge was to write create a DLO that tells others what Diwali is and how people celebrate around the world. Something I found interesting was the nice patterns that were used, also the colors were very  interesting since they only use bright colors for there designs.

I found this activity fun because I learnt facts about a new celebration.

The Inchcape Rock

LI: To find and summarise the story behind the poem.

The main characters of this poem are Sir Ralph

(Captain of the boat), Abbot of Aberbrothock (The owner of Inchcape Rock). This poem is about a person named Abbot of Aberbrothock and placed a bell. Another person named Sir Ralph wanted to cut off the bell because Aberbrothock was being blessed to much. Then Sir Ralph cut off the bell and went off to steal more treasure to become rich. Then the weather became windy and rainy. Then his boat crashed into Inchcape Rock, the waves rushed side to side on his boat. The last thing he heard was the sound of the devil ringing his knell.

Our challenge was to unpack the story behind the 17 verses of the poem Inchcape Rock by Robert Southy. The part I found interesting was the sound of the bell under the seas because it was very strange to hear.

I found this activity very interesting because of the new story I heard about  Sir Ralph.

Outside we explained the address, phone number, and how long it takes to get there. Also explaining why you should recommend staying there. And also explaining there are instructors that take care of you and do the activities with you.

On the inside there are activities that you can do and explaining what is in the cafeteria and what resources they have in the kitchen. Also explaining how many people can the cabins fit inside each cabin. The cabins can hold about 83 people in each cabin. Beds are provided in the cabins but not beding things like sheets, pillows and blankets. Things you are needed to bring is food to eat and pack of clothing and resources that are necessary to pack.

Statistical Investagation

LI: To read the text, gather sort, graph and analyse the data

Our maths group created a diagram which shows the top six rivers in Auckland from smallest to largest. We used our collaborative skills to find out the data of each river. We put these rivers in this order from shortest to longest… We used our knowledge to come to the conclusion on what river is the longest out of the 6 rivers in Auckland, which is the Whau River, the Puhoi River, the Tamaki River, Waitakere River, Hoteo River, and the Wairoa River.

The rivers that go in order is the Whau River which is 6km, Puhoi River 13km, Tamaki River 15km, Waitakre River 16km, Hoteo River 28km, Wairoa River 65km. This the order is goes for the rivers in Auckland.
