Kuaka Bird

L.I To make an slide show telling about the kuaka bird.

 

For this activity we the types of areas kuakas stays and where they travel, we also had to reasearch how much distance do kuaka birds fly since they are birds that travels a lot around the whole world, we also wrote questions about what we want to know about the kuaka bird.

I enjoyed this activity because  I got to learn some new things about the kuaka bird.

Chinese Lantern Festival

L.I To reaserch about the Chinese Lantern Festivil.

For this activity I reasearched  about Chinese Lantern Festivil. The Chinese Lantern Festivil uses fireworks to scare off any bad spirits. They also uses this time to welcome the good fortune onto the next year.

I enjoyed this activity because I got to learn more about the Chinese Lantern Festivil.

Matariki Star

L.I To make a design of telling a story

For my design for matariki  I did the story of Maui and the sun, for this design I added a hook onto my matariki Star since in the story of Maui and the sun, Maui grabs his hook and pulls  the sun, I also added the sun into my matariki star since Maui used his hook to pull the sun because it was coming out too early.

I enjoyed this activity because I got to create an design that tells about a story.

 

Place Value

L.I: To explore numbers (Written, expanded, numerals)

For this task I explained what place of the number goes in, when the number gets to nine and you add one into the nine it becomes ten moving the number to another plac. These groups can go up to anything but it has to start at the ones column.

Abstract Noun Poem – Courage

LI: To use metaphors and senses to describe the noun by painting a picture with your words.

We were challenged to write a poem about an abstract noun using the 5 sences. One the noun my partner picked was courage, meaning being hold to strive forward. In each line we described what we thought the abstract noun would look,smell, feel,hear and taste like. We then used wordhippo to change our words and make our poem more developed.

I enjoyed this activity because I got learn more about poems.

Polar Bear Moment in Time

L.I To use the five senses of your poem.

We wrote a poem about this polar bear when this man was  in a plastic box trapped, in our poem we used five senses, the fives senses are see-visual, taste-gustatory, tactile-feel, auditory-sound and olfactory-smell but we did I wonder rather than smell, for this poem of the polar I show a example like, I felt the goose bumps traveling down my spine, taunting me to not make no sudden movements as the tension slowly ate me.

I enjoyed this activity because I got to use the five senses to write our poem.

Moment in Time / Maugarei Mountian

L.I To use the five senses of ur poem.

We wrote a poem about us going about the Maugarei mountian, in our poem we used five senses, the fives senses are see-visual, taste-gustatory, tactile-feel, auditory-sound and olfactory-smell but we did I wonder rather than smell, also for this poem we talked about the past on how it must of felt like for example, “I wonder if the view seen by us today is the view seen by those who stood yesterday”, we used yesterday for the word for long time ago.

I enjoyed this activity because I got to use the five senses to write our poem.

Sound Focus – The Code

L.I To figure out the different sounds for ‘ea’

For this activity I created a DLO explaining the sound of words for example, br-ea-d could be heard as br-eh-d, this reason is when two vowels join together it could make different sounds for words, the other words I learnt that could make different sounds st-ea-k because could also be heard as st-ay-k, since the two vowels are put together. Same could be for m-ea-t because it can be heard as m-ee-t rather than the food meat.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt sounds.

Name Art

L.I To think of an idea on how to create a Taniwha using your name

For this task I made an Taniwha that was with my name. I had to think of an design of how to create a taniwha connecting with my name,  for this task I made a basic design for my name having the head of the taniwha with designs in the front of my name and the tail at the back of the end of my name.

I enjoyed this activity because I got to think of an design that I can use for my name.

Leaders We Admire

L.I Research for leaders that you admire for what they have done.

We researched for a leader that we admire, the leader that we picked was Rosa Parks. We think she was a good leader a because she wasn’t afraid to in the front of the bus where only white people were only allowed to sit. People were telling her to move but she didn’t listen and stayed in the front of the bus. That showed that she wanted everyone to have equal rights no matter what skin colour you are.

I enjoyed this activity because I got to learn why these leaders are important for what they have done.
